I checked my email & this is what the message said

Congratulations, Kimberly!  You’re the winner of the random drawing for a $15 store credit at www.GreatYarnCompany.com

I was so excited!!!!!!! I cried! I IMMEDIATELY went to the site & tried to ‘claim’ yarn as my winnings….got almost all the way thru the process, and then guess what?

yep. It had to have a credit card number.

I don’t have a credit card, or a debit card.

now I’m upset because I don’t know what to do.

any suggestions?

I can’t block it yet because I don’t have the pins, but it’s at least finished!!!!!! I am so excited!

Drilling

Photobucket

FIRST… do you know what ANWR is?

ANWR = Arctic National Wildlife Refuge.

….

Now… A comparison

Photobucket

And some perspective…

Photobucket

NOTE WHERE THE PROPOSED DEVELOPMENT AREA IS…

(it’s in the “ANWR Coastal Plain”)

Photobucket

THIS IS WHAT THE DEMOCRATS, LIBERALS AND “GREENS” SHOW YOU WHEN THEY TALK ABOUT ANWR

…and they are right… these ARE photographs of ANWR

Photobucket
Photobucket

Photobucket

ISN’T ANWR BEAUTIFUL? WHY SHOULD WE DRILL HERE (AND DESTROY) THIS BEAUTIFUL PLACE???

WELL… THAT’S NOT EXACTLY THE TRUTH

Do you remember the map?

The map showed that the proposed drilling area is in the ANWR Coastal Plain

Do those photographs look like a coastal plain to you?

WHAT’S GOING ON HERE?

….

…..

…..

…..

…..

…..

….

THE ANSWER IS SIMPLE…

THAT IS NOT WHERE THEY ARE WANTING TO DRILL!

THIS IS WHAT THE PROPOSED EXPLORATION AREA ACTUALLY LOOKS LIKE IN THE WINTER

Photobucket

AND THIS IS WHAT IT ACTUALLY LOOKS LIKE IN THE SUMMER

Photobucket

Photobucket
Photobucket

HERE ARE A COUPLE SCREEN SHOTS FROM GOOGLE EARTH

Photobucket

Photobucket

AS YOU CAN SEE, THE AREA WHERE THEY ARE TALKING ABOUT DRILLING IS A BARREN WASTELAND.

OH… AND THEY SAY THAT THEY ARE CONCERNED ABOUT THE EFFECT ON THE LOCAL WILDLIFE…

HERE IS A PHOTO (SHOT DURING THE SUMMER) OF THE
“DEPLETED WILDLIFE” SITUATION CREATED BY DRILLING AROUND PRUDHOE BAY *…
DON’T YOU THINK THAT THE CARIBOU REALLY HATE THAT DRILLING?

Photobucket

HERE’S THAT SAME SPOT DURING THE WINTER.

Photobucket

HEY, THIS BEAR SEEMS TO REALLY HATE THE PIPELINE NEAR PRUDHOE BAY *…

Photobucket

*The Prudhoe bay area accounts for 17% of U.S.

domestic oil production

NOW, WHY DO YOU THINK THAT THE DEMOCRATS ARE LYING ABOUT ANWR?

REMEMBER WHEN AL GORE SAID THAT
THE GOVERNMENT SHOULD WORK TO ARTIFICIALLY RAISE GAS PRICES
TO $5.00 A GALLON

WELL…

AL GORE AND HIS FELLOW DEMOCRATS HAVE ALMOST REACHED THEIR GOAL!

NOW THAT YOU KNOW THAT THE DEMOCRATS HAVE BEEN LYING,
WHAT ARE YOU GOING TO DO ABOUT IT?

YOU CAN START BY FORWARDING THIS TO EVERYONE YOU KNOW…
SO THAT THEY WILL KNOW THE TRUTH.

attention!

Obama’s Work Claim
His new ad says he “worked his way” through college and law school. His campaign says he had two summer jobs.
Summary
Obama’s latest ad repeats an often-stated claim, saying he “worked his way through college and Harvard Law.” We know Obama took out loans to get himself through school. But the campaign provided information on just two jobs Obama had in those years, and they were both in the summer.

The ad also says he “passed a law to move people from welfare to work, slashed the rolls by 80 percent.” Actually, the Illinois law was a required follow-up to the 1996 federal welfare reform law worked out by President Clinton and the Republican Congress. Welfare rolls did go down by nearly as much as the ad says, but Obama can’t claim sole credit.

Analysis
Obama’s new ad, “Dignity,” is largely a 30-second version of his last one, “Country I Love.” It, too, will be airing in 18 states, according to the presumptive Democratic nominee’s campaign.

Working to Make It Work

The ad begins with the announcer telling us that Obama “worked his way through college and Harvard Law.” Actually, Obama took out loans to get himself through college, as we heard in a 60-second ad his campaign began running last month. We don’t know how much assistance his family provided.

But “worked his way” through college and law school? The only back-up the campaign provided for this claim was a quote from Obama’s book “Dreams from My Father” having to do with a construction job he had one summer while he was in college, and an article mentioning his job as a summer associate one year at a big Chicago law firm. We asked campaign spokesman Tommy Vietor if Obama held jobs during the school year, or other summer jobs, but he said only, “He had the two jobs I told you about.” Unless Obama had a good bit more employment than his spokesman was able to describe for us, it’s a real stretch to claim he “worked his way” through school.

No More Handouts

As in his last ad, this one touts three bills that Obama “passed,” and once again we’re not told whether the bills were products of the Illinois Senate or the U.S. Senate. We’ll fill you in: In this ad, all three pieces of legislation mentioned were passed in the Illinois Senate.

Obama for America Ad: “Dignity”

Obama's Work Ethic

Obama: I’m Barack Obama, and I approve this message.

Announcer: He worked his way through college and Harvard Law.

Turned down big money offers, and helped lift neighborhoods stung by job loss. Fought for workers’ rights.

He passed a law to move people from welfare to work, slashed the rolls by eighty percent. Passed tax cuts for workers; health care for kids.

As president, he’ll end tax breaks for companies that export jobs, reward those that create jobs in America.

And never forget the dignity that comes from work.

The first bill that’s cited is the 1997 law that created the Temporary Assistance to Needy Families program in Illinois. The ad claims Obama “passed a law to move people from welfare to work, slashed the rolls by 80 percent.” That’s going too far. First, the law in question wasn’t dreamed up out of thin air by its sponsors. It was the follow-up to the welfare reform act, the Personal Responsibility and Work Opportunity Act, that President Clinton signed on Aug. 26, 1996. That law gave states the ability to design their own welfare programs as long as they met certain federal requirements, including limits on how long recipients could get benefits. The bill that Obama cosponsored was Illinois’ version.

And far from having “passed” the bill single-handedly, Obama was among five Senate sponsors of the measure, as we said previouslyIt was passed by both chambers of the Illinois Legislature and signed into law by the governor.

Welfare reform was successful in moving people off public assistance. There was about a 78 percent drop in the number of families receiving public assistance in Illinois between 1998 and 2006. But we don’t think Obama alone, or even Obama and the four other sponsors of the Illinois law, can take credit for all of this. It was the federal law, hammered out by Clinton and the Republican Congress, that set the wheels in motion and forced states to act. Nationwide, the number of families on welfare declined quite a bit as well, going from 3,146,870 in ‘98 to 1,805,900 in ‘06, a decrease of almost 43 percent.

Also, our friends at PolitiFact talked to an expert who said part of the steep drop in Illinois’ numbers was due to other factors, such as a state bureaucracy that took an aggressive approach to ejecting people from the rolls, sometimes erroneously.

A Passable Record

Just as in his earlier ad, Obama takes credit for passing “tax cuts for workers.” Here, the announcer is talking about the Illinois earned income tax credit, which came into being in 2000. The bill doesn’t contain Obama’s name as an original sponsor, but according to The Associated Press, he was the linchpin of the effort but let Republicans, who held the Legislature and the governor’s mansion, take the lead on it.

The third law Obama claims sole responsibility for is an expansion of Illinois’ KidCare program, a low-cost health insurance program aimed at working families making too much to qualify for Medicaid. Obama did in fact sponsor the bill in 2003 that allowed families making up to 200 percent of the poverty level rather than the previous 185 percent to participate. When Gov. Rod Blagojevich signed the bill on July 1, 2003, he said it would make 20,000 more children and 65,000 more adults immediately eligible for the program.

If I said I had nothing to report, would you hold it against me?

Well, its true. I actually have nothing to talk about so I will blog about a bunch of nothing.

I am still working on the boarder of my large rectangle lace shawl from Victorian Lace Today, and I’m starting to wonder…is this the shawl of doom? LOL Is it possible that I have somehow slipped into the twilight zone & will never get out of this seemingly unending edging of this 6ft. long shawl? HUUMMM HA! I wouldn’t be surprised if this one is on my needles for another week……just for the boarder!!!!!!!!

last night I went thru all my stash & posted the pics of what I have on it’s on page here on my blog. Some of my stash comes from the work that I do, sometimes people pay me for yarn…some of it came from a very nice lady who thought this yarn needed a new home…and very little of it I actually purchased with my own cash (duh, we don’t have any for me to spend…LOL).

guess what I have the most of in my stash?

you guessed it…Red Heart Yarn. I hate that stuff. It seems like that’s what people were paying me for a while (where most of it came from), and I also have the fun fur. I still don’t know what to do with most of that.

my Red Heart yarn is being used to knit blankets for our local vet’s office for the animals there. Believe me, I will have enough of it to do more than one for them. Really. It’s almost sad…but it’s going for a good cause, so that makes it all good.

I still have the last bit of a cold that I’m fighting. I want it to be over already. Summer colds are the worst things, don’t you agree?

I worked out for the first time in a while yesterday, and sure enough not only did I get my usual workout headache, I woke up this AM sore. Yep. As if a cold isn’t enough, now I have the aches and pains to go with it. Booya me.

my groom is off from work this Friday, and we are looking forward to a long weekend. We probably won’t do much, but at least we will be here together. *grins* It’s just much better all of us together. I can’t wait for the weekends :)

well, housework calls………….bye yall!

thank God my cold seems to be getting better….I pray that my ears and nose unstop soon. *achoo*

I had someone contact me about possibly doing some graphic design work for them, but nothing potentially serious nibble wise other than the ‘do you do this’ kind of questions. I need work folks!

our power bill is a whopping 335.50 this month. This makes me grumpy. Good gravy.

I have been thinking about going even more places to see if I can get a weekend job for a little more cash in the house. If our tax stimulus check doesn’t come soon, I simply don’t know what we are going to do. But, the Lord will provide. It will be okay. This I know.

on the knitting front:

I have been knitting on the large rectangle diamond shawl in Victorian Lace Today for about a month. I am down to knitting one project at a time (primarly) because of my lack there of stash. It’s better to do one thing at a time & be able to do it all year long than to have idle hands later on this year.  I have finished the center panel of the shawl & have finally figured out what in the world page 20 in VLT means & have started doing the boarder. It’s true what they say, once you get it, you’ve got it. I don’t know how long it will take me, but whenever it’s finished you know  I will post pics.

on the email front:

I have a new email friend that I’ve talked to via email quite a few times, and she’s not ‘feeling well’ (for lack of better term on my behalf)…and she’s taken a break. Please pray for Ms. Pat if you should get a chance. She is like a breath of fresh air in my email, and I love hearing from her.

on my marriage front:

my groom went to the gym today & deadlifted 415 lbs 3x’s. He’s only 5′5″ and he’s amazing. I told him he should save time & just pick up the side of our home so that he wouldn’t have to travel. *grins*.

He is the one person in this world, besides my children, that fills my heart with complete joy. Since I’ve been sick with this bout of a cold he has petted me shamelessly. I didn’t even have to cook all weekend because he wanted me well. He is just the ‘bees knees’.

on the working out/fitness front:

I have found that I can not do ‘fit day’ because of my ana. I have had some major bouts with my ED, and even slipped into old habits, and of course the end result was I am now sick with a cold. Stupid immune system.

Ana bites. I hate it, and I hate how it makes me feel about my weight. I honestly wonder if there will ever be a ‘me’ without the ‘whisperings’ of Ana. It’s just so easy for me to slip into my old habits. And I know better. For goodness sake, I have someone living right here with me that always reminds me that I need food, etc. and I still can’t seem to stop this stupid eating disorder from rearing it’s ugly head every 6 weeks or so. That is the longest I’ve gone without having a STRUGGLE here.

I am not going to give any excuses, I’m simply going to say that I just can’t do fit day. It causes my ‘ana’ to become a monster & I can’t allow it to win.

I am down to 133, but I have not measured because I want to wait until I don’t feel so ‘fragile’ about what it will say. I will post them in a few weeks when I’m stronger.

I am on my way to do my workouts, I just wanted to update everyone so that yall would know I haven’t fallen off of the face of the earth.

it’s hard to battle with ana, having someone here that is in such a great physical shape…I sometimes battle with the ‘failure’ side of ana. But, my Boo is patient wtih me, so I need to learn to be 1/2 as understanding of myself as he is. *muah*

I’m still in this fight, and I’m not giving up. I’m probably the only ‘weight challenged’ woman in the world that is bullied by ana. it’s just crazy. *grins*

on the moving front:

I am still counting down to 1 year from Christmas that we may probably post possibly move to Savannah, Georgia. We are going to visit my MIL/step FIL for Thanksgiving (Lord willing) and she lives out there (the reason for our move so we can get closer to her) and maybe we can get more of an idea where we could be comfortable in the years to come as our children continue to grow, and in years on move out. If we had the true opportunity to move there I’d move there today. That’s how ready I am to get out of this place. I’m sick of being here.

well, I have to run…..knitting is calling!

C & J will no longer be coming out here for me to childsit.

yesterday, C & J’s step, or whatever the guy is called, called out here to ask if I wanted to be paid weekly (remember he already had one week he slid on payment until the next week), and I said “Yes, that was our agreement” he said “so you want to be paid weekly?”<<<–he asked this 3 or 4 times now. And I kept telling him YES.

well, J was due to come out here tonight, and almost 2 hours later, still no show……nor no phone call. So, I called & this is how it played out

“L?”

“yea”

“This is Kim, is J okay?”

“yea, he’s with D”

“umm okay.”

“yea, I’ve been working so much that I’ve not had a chance to come out there.”

“well, L, when am I going to get paid?”

“I don’t know when I can get out there.”

“well, L, if you will tell me where to meet you I can come meet you to get my money”

“I don’t have any money on me, so I will have to get it from their Mom”

(what???? how was he going to pay me?)

“well, it’s not fair for me to have to chase down my money, so you can go ahead  & find yourself another sitter.”

“you aren’t having to chase down your money, Kim”

“yes, sir I am. You should have paid me as promised this week.”

(he was already hateful)—>>>”well, I will get the money out to you whenever I can. I’ve never not paid a sitter.”

“I’m not saying you have sir, I’m simply saying you haven’t paid me”

well, I promise you that you will get your money, I will have no problem getting a sitter.

my question is if he is indeed working days, why do they need me? And if he has no money how is he going to pay me?

it’s $25 lousy bucks folks. That’s all they owe me & he acted like I asked him for a lung.

I don’t know if anyone is like me or not, but it seems like a when a bit of good comes my way, a bit of bad does too, I guess just to level things out in dustbunny land.

I had been so excited to win yarn! (YYIIIIPPPEEE! Yarny goodness!) and posted about it, went to get some coffee, came back to the ‘puter, and pulled out ol computer chair &

“kaplunk”

the chair really fell in half. No lie. The top part of the chair broke completely off, and there is no putting it back together.

now, I know that some may wonder if it has to do with my possible ‘girth’. Let me assure you all gentle readers…..that was not the case. My Dustbunny hiney hadn’t landed as of yet, and it was merely an arm. Now, true, I’ve been working out like a mad man and dancin’ to the Thriller for Thrill the world in October, but I am in no way that strong. If I were strong enough to tear this chair apart I’d fly out to compete in strongperson competitions. *grins*

so, now I have no choice but to use an ill equipped for computer desks kitchen chair until further notice. I’m going to try & be reasonably quiet for the rest of the day least I break something else.
